Leroy Anderson Centennial Celebration

The Waterbury Symphony Orchestra proudly celebrates the Centennial of the birth of legendary Symphonic Pops composer, Leroy Anderson on May 10th with an 8:15 PM concert. The symphony will fill the Palace Theater with the sounds of several of his pieces, including Clarinet Candy, Blue Tango, Bugler’s Holiday, and his Piano Concerto.

The Woodbury Ballet, with Artistic Director & Choreographer Randyl Errica, will be dancing to a live performance of Blue Tango, Jazz Pizzicato, and Serenata. Ms. Errica choreographed the dances especially for this celebratory event.

You will definitely not want to miss the performance of Bugler’s Holiday, which will include numerous trumpet players playing this catchy tune by Leroy Anderson. We may not set any world records, and you will not be blown away, but it will surely be an exciting addition to the concert.

Although Mr. Anderson is most known for his work with the Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra, Leroy Anderson spent a great deal of time here in the Greater Waterbury community. For some time, Mr. Anderson served as the Manager of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, and he also helped to found the Greater Waterbury Youth Symphony. As a recognition of this commitment to the young musicians in the area, members of the Greater Waterbury Youth Symphony will be joining the symphony to perform two of the pieces during the concert.

Australian piano sensation, Simon Tedeschi, will also be joining the Waterbury Symphony to perform Leroy Anderson’s Piano Concerto. Mr. Tedeschi has been stunning audiences since his first solo engagement at the age of nine. He has released multiple recordings, including a recording of the Anderson Piano Concerto with the Melbourne (Australia) Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets to this concert are $75, $50, $35, $20, & $10 for Students. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Palace Theater Box Office at 203-755-4700 or online by clicking here.

We have again partnered with the Palace Theater’s Poli Club to offer a dinner and show package for this concert. For $75 a person, you can get dinner at the Poli Club and a ticket to the show. This special package is a great opportunity for those looking to celebrate the Mother’s Day weekend in style, or just looking for a night on the town! Call 203-574-4283 for this special.
