The WSO builds connections across the region with exploratory concerts, events, and educational programs. The WSO maintains a firm commitment to produce programs that are of value to its patrons, participants and community partners. This commitment is rooted in the Symphony’s core belief that music education and shared cultural experiences are essential to creating community.  Founded in 1938, the Symphony has assembled over 100 of the most talented musicians across New England to perform throughout Northwest Connecticut.  The 2019-2020 season celebrates Maestro Leif Bjaland’s 25th Anniversary as Music Director & Conductor with the WSO.

The Symphony has been the Orchestra-in-Residence at Naugatuck Valley Community College since 1992.

Fall in love again with the classic 1942 film.  Presented in collaboration with Waterbury's Palace Theater.

Prepare to fall in love again with the beloved romantic film classic, Casablanca, presented with live orchestra. Staged in the historic Palace Theater, this event offers audiences the rare opportunity to experience the 1942 film on the big screen with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra performing the score live. Widely regarded as a landmark in American cinema, don't miss your chance to experience Casablanca in a whole new way.

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture and lauded as one of the greatest movies of all times by the American Film Institute, Casablanca sweeps you up in the action as Rick (Humphrey Bogart) struggles to do what is right for himself, and for his long-lost love, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman).

Conducted by Leif Bjaland.
