About the event

America the Beautiful: A Musical Celebration of 250 Years of the USA

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra proudly presents America the Beautiful, a musical tribute that reimagines one of the nation’s most beloved patriotic songs. Seven Connecticut composers have been commissioned to each create a new musical setting for each stanza from America the Beautiful, a poem written by Katharine Lee Bates, offering a powerful blend of tradition and community spirit. Featuring the CT State College, Naugatuck Valley Choir under the direction of Gil Harel, and student performers from the region, this celebratory program highlights the enduring beauty of America’s cultural ideals. Performances are free and open to the public.
