An exquisite Valentine's Day evening. Candlelight Quartet Concert : Music of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles & Queen

WSO's sublime string quartet, performs the

Music of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles & Queen.

Saturday, February 14th | 7:00 PM | Edmond Town Hall, Newtown, CT

Following the enthusiastic response to its inaugural Candlelight Quartet Concert last season, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra returns to Edmond Town Hall on Saturday evening, February 14, with its 2nd Annual Candlelight Quartet Concert, a Valentine’s Day performance featuring the music of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and Queen, presented in the glow of 2000 candles.

Held in the historic Edmond Town Hall, this intimate evening will showcase WSO’s professional string quartet led by Concertmaster Alyce Cognetta Bertz.

Treat yourself to a night of timeless classics as the quartet performs the music of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and Queen as you’ve never heard it before. Surrounded by the gentle flicker of thousands of candles, audiences will be swept away by the elegance of strings paired with the unmistakable soul of rock ’n’ roll—an atmosphere that is intimate, moody, and magical.

Designed especially for Valentine’s Day, the concert offers an experience that is both emotionally rich and visually striking.

The music program features a sweeping, candlelit journey through legendary songs, arranged for strings, including:

Fleetwood Mac — Landslide • Rhiannon • The Chain • Songbird

Eagles — Desperado • Take It Easy • Hotel California • Lyin’ Eyes

Queen — Crazy Little Thing Called Love • Another One Bites the Dust • We Will Rock You • Bohemian Rhapsody

In a world that moves fast, music like this invites us to slow down, connect, and feel,” said WSO Executive Director, Doug Donato. “The candlelit ambiance and stunning string arrangements create an unforgettable experience — perfect for Valentine’s weekend.

WSO launched its Candlelight Concerts during the 2024–25 season which also marked the opening of its new Edmond Town Hall Series. That inaugural concert drew audiences from across the region and established the string quartet by candlelight concert format as a distinctive addition to WSO’s programming. The Valentine’s Day performance builds on that success, continuing the orchestra’s commitment to presenting intimate, accessible concerts that broaden the orchestral experience.

Lynne Farah (above), founder of House of Harrison holds up a "blessings bag" which are filled with hats, gloves, socks, underwear, personal care items, and bathroom essentials and handed out to the homeless.

In keeping with the orchestra’s strong ties to the communities it serves, WSO will also be collecting donations for Newtown’s own House of Harrison, supporting its mission to provide supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness, transitioning from treatment, or facing hard times by providing daily essentials that offers comfort, confidence, and hope for a new beginning.  Specific donations requested include packs of underwear, socks, hats, gloves, packs of personal care an/or d bathroom essentials for  their ‘blessing bag’ drives which they compile and hand out to the homeless.  To see House of Harrison’s Amazon Wish List – please visit their home page and look for How To Help.  https://houseofharrison.org
